Knowing About The Hong Kong International Furniture Fair
When you fly over bustling Kowloon Bay, you can reveal the future of the enterprising Chinese landscape, this sentiment is captured by the ominous Hong Kong International Airport (HKIA) and AsiaWorld Expo (AWE) mega-complex that is hosting the third edition of the Hong Kong International Furniture Fair (HKIFF). The Hong Kong International Furniture Fair is organised by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council and Kenfair International Limited in conjunction with the International Furniture and Decoration Association.
An annual event in Hong Kong, the HKIFF is normally open to trade professionals only for the first three days, and becomes open to the public on the final day. It will run concurrently with the HK International Building and Decoration Materials and Hardware fair at AWE and the HK International Lighting Fair at the HK Convention/Exhibition Centre.
With more than two hundred and fifty exhibitors or more normally present for the show, the 10,000 square metre exhibition areas will certainly be busy with furniture designers, producers, and buyers. Featured exhibits will focus on designer and office furniture, parts and accessories, and trade publications. These are supported by the HK Design Centre, HK Furniture and Decoration Trade Association Ltd., and the HK Interior Design Association.
There are three featured “Zones” – the first is designated for furniture that is Inspirational, Glamorous, Lively, Original, and Outstanding (IGLOO) and is by invitation only. The second is for “Classic” furniture encompassing antique furniture and reproductions of China, Asia, and Europe and the third is reserved for office furniture and “smart-office” solutions.
As one of the largest exhibition centres in the world, the AWE includes over 70,000 square metres of space with ten exhibition and event halls and eight self-sufficient, inter-connected halls divided by acoustic partitions. There are also meeting and conference facilities available on the second level of the complex.
Coming to the AsiaWorld Expo (AWE), visitors can find it extremely accessible from the HKIA terminal, as they are linked via a 1-minute express train running from Airport Station to the north side of the AWE complex. Buses also run constantly, with a large bus terminus at the West Entrance. If travellers can be taken from the South past the Sky City Nine Eagles golf course and onto Airport Expo Boulevard, where there are multiple taxi stations and private vehicle pick-up and drop-off areas by Sky City Road. There is also the Sky City car park between the AWE and HKIA. Accommodations are abundant with two grand hotels – the Regal Airport Hotel and Sky City Marriott – located on the premises, as well as five others in the surrounding Kowloon Bay area.
